Wooden lighting shades
Linked to the trend for all things Scandi is the trend for lighting made from natural materials and in particular – wood. It’s a surprisingly versatile material that surprisingly isn’t just used in straight plank sections.
Showroom Finland use the assembly of plywood parts without screws or glue for their Pilke (twinkle) range – I particularly like the Pilke 60 pendant:
Secto form press birchwood for their Kontro and Octo ranges:
And our own GB based Tom Raffield uses steam bent wood to create his range of highly sculptural and sustainable lighting:
By the nature of their design they all create interesting light spills around them especially when in enclosed spaces.
