Our clients had lived in their Oxfordshire farmhouse for many years but felt that they needed extra space – in particular, space with extra height. The solution was a double height oak framed extension to provide a spacious living room with plenty of natural light and views over their gardens and the surrounding fields.
Our brief was to use architectural lighting to highlight the beautiful oak frame and brick fireplace whilst providing sufficient ambient lighting for the room. The latter had to be done without the obvious choice of multi-armed ceiling pendants as the clients required a pair of ceiling fans instead. We produced a lighting design made up of layers of architectural lighting which we also supplied. These layers linked to an 8 gang light switch to provide light levels that could range from bright down to very subtle without the expense of a single room lighting control system.
