Kitchens & Dining
For so many of us the kitchen is the heart of our home and the room where we spend the most time. Increasingly the kitchen is becoming a main part of an open plan space that may incorporate many other functions, such as dining, TV viewing, homework and play. This means that our kitchens are far more on show than they used to be and the design needs to flow with the rest of our homes.
Kitchen lighting primarily needs to be functional. It's the place in your home that you use all of the dangerous things like knives and heat - even if it is only to open a chilled meal from M&S and stick it in the oven for half an hour!
However, as we open our kitchens more and more to family and friends it also needs to be as beautiful as everything else within it and the rest of our homes. If it's part of an open plan space, it most definitely benefits from some "mood lighting" so that you aren't eating your dinner with a black void in the background, making you feel uncomfortable.
