In recent years there has been a radical change in what we expect our bathrooms to be. For many of us they are no longer just a place to get clean - they are somewhere to relax and unwind or a safe haven from the kids behind a locked door! 

 

The boutique hotel look and luxury spa has filtered down in to the domestic market allowing us to have all those features for ourselves in our own homes. The wealth of interesting decorative lighting allows us to express ourselves. 

 

Mood lighting allows us to create a relaxing atmosphere. It's also so very useful to be able to use the bathroom at night with soft background lighting that doesn't bring us completely awake and unable to go back to sleep - great for the kids and for guests to find their way around an unfamiliar room. Mood lighting also helps us highlight those luxury bathroom features - the free-standing bath, the niches to hold all of our toiletries when in the bath or shower, those spiral radiators that you had to have.
